Participation at the 66th Plenary meeting of MONEYVAL

    The EAG Secretariat participated in the 66th Plenary session of the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) from December 11 to 15, 2023. 

    The event, which was attended by about 50 jurisdictions and international organizations, was opened and moderated by Ms. Elżbieta Franków-Jaśkiewicz, Chair of the Committee. 

    The Plenary discussed and adopted the mutual evaluation reports of Azerbaijan and Montenegro (EAG observer), as well as follow-up reports of Cyprus, Lithuania and Slovenia.  

    The Committee elected a new Chairman (representative of San Marino) and his deputies (representatives of Armenia and Estonia).

    The Rules of Procedures were adopted and the sequencing of mutual evaluations within the next round was approved.

    The EAG Secretariat informed the Plenum about recent initiatives of the Group in the sphere of AML/CFT. In particular, the results of typological projects "Laundering of criminal proceeds from corruption offenses and crimes against the interests of public service", "Laundering of criminal proceeds from illicit trafficking of drugs and their precursors" and the EAG Guidelines for financial investigations in the AML/CFT sphere, as well as the review of cases of the second EAG contest among banks for the best financial analysis were presented.

    The next MONEYVAL plenary meeting will be held in May 2024.
