The 3rd EAG training seminar for evaluators was held in Kyiv, Ukraine on May 18-22, 2009. The training was based on the 40+9 FATF recommendations and FATF evaluation methodology of national AML/CFT systems’ compliance with international standards.

The training was organized by the EAG in cooperation with the State Committee for Financial Monitoring of Ukraine.

The seminar was opened by Igor Nebyvaev, the EAG Acting Executive Secretary, and Yaroslav Yanushevitch, Deputy head of the State Committee for Financial Monitoring of Ukraine.

Over 30 evaluators from all EAG member states received training as well as those from Moldova and Ukraine and the UNODC which are observers in the EAG.

The training was conducted by the evaluating experts from the EAG, the IMF, World Bank and the FIUs of Russia and Ukraine.

According to Igor Nebyvaev, the training was successful and has led to a large group of international experts being created within the EAG who will carry out further evaluations of the EAG member states. The EAG hopes to have carried out the evaluations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by the end of 2009.
