Kazakhstan delegation's participation in the FATF Plenary meeting in Paris

    The FATF Plenary and Working Group meetings, attended by more than 800 representatives from 205 countries and jurisdictions as well as the IMF, UN, World Bank and other organizations, are held in Paris from 16 to 21 February 2020.

    Kazakhstan is represented at the FATF Plenary meeting by Gabit Lesbekov, deputy chairman of the Committee on Financial Monitoring of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    The FATF Plenary week is dedicated to global action to track money flows underpinning crime and terrorism.
    Participants will evaluate measures taken by South Korea and the United Arab Emirates to combat money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT).

    Other issues on the agenda include a review of Iran and Pakistan's progress in AML/CFT and an assessment of changes in the funding of ISIL, Al-Qaeda and affiliated terror groups.
    During the FATF Plenary week, representatives of Kazakhstan's Committee on Financial Monitoring took part in the Consultative Meeting of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), which includes the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    Also during the FATF Plenary week, representatives of Russia's Federal Financial Monitoring Service received thank-you letters signed by the chairman of Kazakhstan's Committee on Financial Monitoring for assistance in creating an online training course for Kazakhstan's supervisors and other AML/CFT system stakeholders.
