2nd Technical assistance needs assessment mission (TANA) to Kazakhstan

    Kazakhstan’s technical assistance needs were evaluated by the EAG expert group that included representatives from the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service, the EAG Secretariat, the World Bank/UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

    The mission involved analysis of Kazakh legislation. The experts examined the issues of the FIU formation, including the creation of its information and analytical system. The experts held working meetings with representatives of the following Kazakh ministries and agencies:

    • General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan
    • Agency on Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption 
    • National Security Committee
    • National Bank 
    • Agency on Regulating and Supervising the Financial Market and Financial Organizations of Kazakhstan
    • Financial Monitoring Committee

    Based on the mission results, Kazakhstan will receive technical assistance along the following lines: 

    • Forming the FIU
    • Creating the FIU information and analytical system
    • Developing methods and recommendations
    • Staff training 
    • Media and public relations
