    The 3rd Conference of the EAG donor states and organizations, the Working Groups meetings and the 7th EAG Plenary took place on December, 11-14, 2007 in Sanya (Hanian, China).

    The 3rd Conference of the EAG donor states and organizations, the Working Groups meetings and the 7th Plenary of the Eurasian group on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism (EAG) took place on December, 11-14, 2007 in Sanya (Hanian, China) with participation of the EAG member - states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) as well as the EAG observer states and organizations (FATF, World Bank, UNOCD, OSCE, Interpol, Armenia, Afghanistan, United Kingdom, Italy, Moldova, USA, Turkey, Ukraine). The President of the FATF Mr. James Sassoon took part in the EAG Plenary Meeting.
    In view of the request of the EAG Chairman Mr. Zubkov V.A. for his dismissal as the EAG Chairman due his appointment as the Prime - minister of the Russian Federation the re-election of the EAG Chairman was held. The Head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service of the Russian Federation Mr. Markov O.A. was elected as the EAG Chairman. Participants of the 7th EAG Plenary meeting forwarded a greeting letter to Mr. Zubkov.

    The EAG member - states discussed the request for observer status of India, Turkmenistan, Poland and unanimously agreed to grant this status to them.

    The Plenary Meeting participants discussed and approved the FATF/EAG Mutual Evaluation Report on China as well as the China Follow-up report. The Kyrgyz Follow-up report was also discussed and adopted.

    As it was mentioned during the Plenary, the EAG in 2007 has begun and actively implements its main function - conducting mutual evaluations for the purpose of evaluating the compliance of the EAG member-states’ anti money laundering and combating terrorism financing (AML/CFT) national systems with the international standards. The EAG Mutual Evaluations of Belarus and Uzbekistan are scheduled for 2008.

    The Plenary Meeting discussed the results of the EAG Consultations with the Private Sector that took place on October 2007 in Almaty (Kazakhstan). This form of interaction with the private sector was recognized as being useful and will be conducted with consideration to the experience of the FATF and other FATF Style Regional Bodies. 

    The Plenary Meeting approved the results of work of the 3rd Conference of the EAG donor states and organizations, which took place on 11 December 2007, which discussed the implementation of the 2nd EAG Donors Conference decisions (Moscow, Russia, 13 December 2006). 

    The Plenary also approved the results of the EAG work on typologies research for 2007, and also the results of joint FATF/APG Typologies workshop held in Bangkok (Thailand) in November 2007 as well as the EAG Seminar on Typologies held in October 2007 in Almaty (Kazakhstan). The Plenary Meeting agreed on the topics for research in 2008. 

    The Plenary Meeting discussed and approved a number of other issues, connected with the EAG activities.

    The 8th EAG Plenary Meeting is scheduled for July 15-17, 2008.
