Workshop on NPO issues for Tajikistan

On 14-15 January 2021, the workshop for the Republic of Tajikistan "FATF Recommendation 8" organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism (UN OCT) and the EAG Secretariat was held. The event envisaged by the EAG Project Plan on coordination of technical assistance was carried out in hybrid format. In addition to the issues of compliance with the FATF Standards, the representatives of non-profit organizations (NPOs) and competent authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan had the opportunity to learn the practice of risk-based supervision of NPOs, the EAG Secretariat's work to identify regional risks, methods of risks mitigation of NPO abuse, as well as the national experience in regulating NPO activities.

As a result, the participants from Tajikistan expressed their interest in receiving further assistance in regulating NPO sector, and the representatives of UNRCCA and UNCCT expressed their readiness to propose an action plan and ensure the involvement of experienced international experts in working with the country.
