    A meeting of international donor organizations operating in the EAG region was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) on February 27, 2020. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate the provision of technical assistance to Tajikistan by its international partners, which, in turn, should contribute to the country's progress in improving its AML/CFT regime. It was the first time this meeting, organized as part of the country project, launched in the summer of 2019, to coordinate the provision of technical assistance for Tajikistan, was held in this format, providing a practical demonstration of one of the EAG Strategy 2019-2023 focus areas.

    The meeting, opened with a welcome speech by Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Mr. Kh. Mashrabzoda, besides the EAG Secretariat, was attended by representatives of the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the International Monetary Fund, the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Swiss Cooperation Office. 

    During the discussion of measures in support of technical assistance initiatives contained in the EAG Secretariat and Tajikistan's joint Project Plan, participants identified donors for the country's priority areas and agreed on a way forward.

    The event ended with a working meeting between the EAG Executive Secretary and Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Legal Matters Mr. Z. Alizoda, during which the parties exchanged views on the current issues of AML/CFT cooperation.
