The V International Olympiad on financial security took place in Krasnoyarsk

On October 3, the V International Olympiad on Financial Security concluded. It had been taking place since September 29 in Krasnoyarsk at the Siberian Federal University. Around 600 schoolchildren and university students from 40 countries reached the final stage. A total of 188 participants became winners and prize-winners: 27 schoolers and 161 university students.

At the closing ceremony, Yuri Chikhanchin addressed the participants:

“Today we conclude the V International Olympiad on Financial Security. For the first time, it was held in Krasnoyarsk, right in the heart of Russia. I can proudly say that each of you who made it to the finals is already a winner. You’ve come a long way to get here and have shown your best during these five days. Congratulations to the winners and prize-winners. I wish all participants continued success and new achievements!”

The head of the agency expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation, represented by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Region, and personally to the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory Mikhail Kotyukov, the Siberian Federal University team, the organizers, and the partners of the Olympiad for their comprehensive support and the high level of event organization.

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory Mikhail Kotyukov also congratulated the winners and runners-up:

“Dear friends, this week has been full of vivid impressions for all of us – everyone followed the Olympiad and the events happening here. I want to thank each of you for the unforgettable emotions! Behind you are the master classes, discussions, meetings with fascinating people, and Olympiad tasks. Ahead lies life itself, which will pose entirely new challenges. And I have no doubt you’ll succeed in meeting any of them. Congratulations to all the winners and prize-winners! Over this week, you’ve met and made friends. Come visit us again – not just for the Olympiad, but with your friends and families. We’re doing everything we can to make it interesting for everyone here!”

Speakers at the closing ceremony included Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Zhuravlev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Dmitry Afanasiev, and Chairman of PSB Bank Pyotr Fradkov. They congratulated the winners and prize-winners and presented them with diplomas and awards.

At the ceremony, the host region for the next Olympiad was also announced, chosen based on the submitted applications reviewed by the Organizing Committee. In 2026, the Olympiad will once again be held in Krasnoyarsk.

Background:

The International Olympiad on Financial Security has been held since 2021 under the patronage of the President of Russia and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Olympiad is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, and educational institutions that are part of the International Network Institute in the AML/CFT field. The Olympiad is coordinated by the International Training and Methodology Center for Financial Monitoring.

This year, the final brought together participants from about 40 countries. For the first time, teams from Bangladesh, Jordan, Madagascar, Turkey, and Uruguay took part in the Olympiad.

The final stage of the 5th Olympiad featured over 100 events across professional, educational, sports, and moral-spiritual tracks, including meetings with experts and employers, master classes, panel discussions, excursions, and sports competitions.

Winners and runners-up of the Olympiad receive advantages when applying to undergraduate, master's, and postgraduate programs at universities within the International Network Institute in the AML/CFT field, in accordance with the privileges granted to winners of Level I Olympiads. They are also offered internship opportunities at Rosfinmonitoring and other organizations.
