Sentence for terrorist financing in Russian Federation

The South District Military Court of Russian Federation sentenced a person who committed terrorist financing. 

The investigation and the court established that citizen M. in April 2018 being in the city of Terek, Tersky district of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, transferred 7000 rubles through the payment terminal to the electronic wallet. The wallet was used to collect funds for financial assistance to members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, which is a structural unit of the banned terrorist organization Jebhat al-Nusra.

The court considered the evidence collected by the investigation as sufficient. Mr. M. was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1.1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and sentenced to 8 years in prison.

The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed against to the Military Court of Appeal.
