Deputy Head of the Legal Department of Rosfinmonitoring Daniil Burda took part in a Special Meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on financial integrity. The event took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
Daniil Burda presented Russia’s national experience in countering ICT-related crimes and the use of virtual assets to launder criminal proceeds. He emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to reduce risks and for advanced analytical tools that help prevent and investigate such crimes.
“Today, I would like to share national experience in this area. In the regulatory sphere, Russia has approved the Concept of the State System for Countering Illegal Acts Committed Using ICT to improve detection, prevention, and investigation of ICT-related crimes. The concept aims to protect the state, society, and citizens. In addition, we have developed the Transparent Blockchain software tool to monitor and analyze virtual asset transactions,” Daniil Burda said.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and expanding the role of the United Nations in combating money laundering. He highlighted the need to develop a comprehensive international legal instrument that would help effectively prevent and investigate cross-border money laundering crimes.
