  • 29 June, 2026

Following the completion of the FATF quality and consistency review process, the third Enhanced Follow-up Report of Turkmenistan, with technical compliance re-ratings, has been published on the EAG and FATF websites. The document was adopted by the EAG Plenary in May 2026.

The report reflects the progress achieved by Turkmenistan since the adoption of its mutual evaluation report in June 2023. In particular, it provides an analysis of key changes to the legislative and institutional framework, as well as measures taken by the country to further strengthen its national AML/CFT/CPF system in relation to a number of FATF Recommendations.

The assessment of Turkmenistan's progress was conducted by experts from the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following the consideration of the report, Turkmenistan's ratings for two FATF Recommendations (R.12 and R.26) were upgraded to Largely Compliant. The rating for Recommendation 28 remained Partially Compliant.

Taking into account the 3rd Follow-Up Report tTurkmenistan has ratings of Compliant or Largely Compliant for 29 out of the 40 FATF Recommendations.

Turkmenistan will remain in enhanced follow-up based on the technical compliance and effectiveness ratings assigned as a result of the mutual evaluation.
