A meeting of the permanent inter-agency Committee for Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (AML/CFT/PF Committee), chaired by Mr. M M. Vatanzoda,  Assistant to the President of Tajikistan on Legal Issues – Chairman of the Committee, was held at Tajikistan's National Bank on June 14, 2018.

During the meeting, participants discussed the submission to the EAG Secretariat of Tajikistan's comments on the first draft of the Mutual Evaluation Report.
The meeting opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. M M. Vatanzoda, followed by statements dedicated to specific agenda items from representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department of Tajikistan's National Bank and various ministries and departments (members of the Committee).

In particular, Mr. S S. Ikromi, Deputy Chairman of Tajikistan's National Bank, briefed participants on the outcomes of the work carried out within the framework of the review of the first draft of the Mutual Evaluation Report.

Later, representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department informed the meeting about the current situation and further steps to provide comments on the first draft of the Mutual Evaluation Report to the EAG Secretariat. In addition, during the meeting, Mr. F. Fayzullozoda, FMD Director, commented on the collection of data from the relevant ministries and departments and provided answers to the questions of the meeting participants falling within his purview.

Mr. M M. Vatanzoda noted that, pursuant to the EAG-endorsed Mutual Evaluation Procedures, the upcoming EAG Plenary would discuss the findings of the mutual evaluation of Tajikistan's AML/CFT/PF system.

In this regard, the relevant public authorities should be properly prepared for the consideration of this issue by the EAG Plenary, given that any problems with the evaluation process may result in the country being placed on the list of countries not fully compliant with AML/CFT/PF requirements.

During the meeting, the Committee members also presented their comments on the existing deficiencies in the draft MER for submission to the EAG Secretariat.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. M M. Vatanzoda instructed the Committee members to appropriately deal with the requests coming from the FMD and submit comments to the EAG Secretariat.
