Large-scale corruption schemes in the housing and utilities sector identified by the Financial Investigation Department of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

Officials were found to have lobbied the interests of commercial entities in the organization of major repairs in residential buildings, as well as in procurement procedures for equipment. From their «partner companies», the individuals involved received tens of thousands of rubles in illicit benefits, not only in cash. Illegal remuneration also included expensive construction materials and repair services.

In respect of certain heads of municipal housing and utility enterprises in the capital city, conviction sentences have already been issued.
