Issues of countering new challenges and threats discussed at inter-MFA consultations in Minsk
Inter-MFA consultations "On countering new challenges and threats" were held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk (Republic of Belarus) with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments from Russia and foreign countries.
Representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Anti–Terrorism Center of the CIS Member States (CIS ATC), the Secretariat of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of CIS Member States (CIS CHFIUs) and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth took part in the consultations.
Issues of international counter-terrorism cooperation within the CIS, countering money laundering and terrorist financing, extremism and radicalization, drug trafficking are on the agenda.
During the consultations, the main approaches and best practices in the field of countering money laundering and terrorist financing through the work of the CIS CHFIUs were considered. Participants highlighted the key threats and risks of terrorist financing in the Eurasian region.
The participants of the consultations welcomed the dynamically developing cooperation of the CIS in the field of countering new challenges and threats to security with other regional and sub-regional organizations, primarily the CSTO and the SCO, and expressed interest in deepening and expanding such cooperation.
The importance of strengthening bilateral ties and developing projects such as the International Olympiad on Financial Security and the International Movement on Financial Security to prevent the involvement of young people in illegal activities was emphasized.
