EAG Secretariat staff members took part by videoconference connection in the international scientific and practical conference “Increasing educational potential in law enforcement activity: modern challenges and solutions”, organized by the Academy of General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated to the second anniversary of its foundation.
The participants of conference shared experience on organizing education and training of well-qualified specialists and discussed actual questions on combatting with corruption and money laundering.
During the second parallel session “Capacity building of investigative bodies: organization of investigation of complex financial crimes and money laundering” EAG Secretariat presented a report on the theme of implementation of non-conviction based confiscation into national legislation.
It was mentioned in the report that implementation of non-conviction based confiscation into EAG member-state legislation is possible without any contradiction with fundamental national legislation. The implementation of non-conviction based confiscation within the court procedures preserves guaranties of inviolability of property rights. During the presentation there were given examples of states that apply non-conviction based confiscation and was mentioned a practice of Latvia.
In the parallel session representatives of UNODC and well-known experts in the sphere of anti-money laundering took the flour.
