EAG Took Part in the 50th ESAAMLG Task Force Meeting in Ethiopia

EAG continues to strengthen cooperation with ESAAMLG. Within the framework of this cooperation, the EAG Secretariat took part in the 51st ESAAMLG Task Force of Senior Officials Meeting, held in Arusha, Tanzania, from 23 to 27 March 2026.

The meeting focused on the conduct of the Third Round of Mutual Evaluations, consideration of progress reports and the Horizontal Review of the Implementation of FATF Recommendation 8 in the ESAAMLG region. The EAG Secretariat actively participated in the discussions, sharing the experience of EAG member states in conducting typological research, organising technical assistance and preparing for mutual evaluations.

Participation in ESAAMLG events contributes to strengthening cooperation between FATF-style regional bodies, exchanging best practices and developing coordinated approaches to combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

In furtherance of this cooperation, ESAAMLG submitted an official request to the EAG for observer status. This status was granted by the decision of the 43rd EAG Plenary Meeting in November 2025.

The next ESAAMLG Plenary Meeting will be held from 31 August to 5 September 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda.
