Deputy Director of a Regional Educational Institution in Belarus Detained While Receiving a Bribe

The Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs of an educational institution in a regional center of the Republic of Belarus was caught in the act while receiving another bribe.

As established by officers of the regional department of the Financial Investigations Department of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus, during 2025 the official repeatedly received unlawful remuneration from an individual entrepreneur in exchange for making favorable decisions within his area of responsibility. The bribes concerned the selection of the individual entrepreneur as a contractor for the maintenance of heat energy metering and regulation equipment at the educational institution’s facilities. The bribes were also paid for resolving issues related to the acceptance of completed works and their prompt payment.

Despite the fact that the work was performed properly and on time, the Deputy Director attempted at every stage to coerce the entrepreneur into such «cooperation».

A total of 6,5 thousand belarusian rubles was transferred to the educational institution official as bribes. Criminal cases have been initiated against him.
