20th anniversary Plenary meeting of the Egmont Group was held in Saint-Petersburg

    Governor of Saint-Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko, Chairman of the EAG, Director of the Federal financial monitoring service Yury Chikchanchin, Chairman of the Egmont Group Boudewijn Verhelst and Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Markov took part in the opening of the meeting.

    In his address to the participants of the meeting Mr. Verhelst noted that recently the Egmont Group has received the observer status in the EAG, which allows to hope for fruitful cooperation between the groups.

    As the result of the Plenary meeting Tajikistan, which is EAG member state, joined the Egmont Group. Armenia and the Russian Federation sponsored this country in this step.

    Trainings and seminars for the representatives of the departments of financial intelligence units on actual problems of the anti-criminal information cooperation, in particular, with the goal to improve the technical equipment and new financial products were important events on the agenda. The special workshop was devoted to the ways of interaction between law enforcement bodies and agencies to combat corruption.

    Moreover, during the plenary week a number of bilateral agreements on cooperation between the FIUs of EAG member states were signed.

    More than 400 financial investigators from all over the world, as well as representatives of international organizations-observers participated in the work of the working groups and Plenary jubilee meeting of the Egmont group.
