15-year anniversary of the foundation of the financial intelligence unit of the Kyrgyz Republic

Fifteen years ago, on September 8, 2005, the financial intelligence unit of the Kyrgyz Republic - Financial Intelligence Service of the Kyrgyz Republic was founded. 

Today, the State Financial Intelligence Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is a modern, technically equipped agency, which has highly professional staff.

Since its establishment, the Financial Intelligence Service has carried out significant work on building a national center for collection and analysis of information on operations (transactions) related to financing of terrorist activity and legalization (laundering) of criminal incomes in accordance with international standards. To this end, the FIU actively cooperated with colleagues from foreign countries, including on technical assistance provided by international development partners.

As the authorized state body in the sphere of counteraction to financing of terrorist activity and legalization (laundering) of criminal incomes, the FIU takes measures in order to ensure integrity of the financial system of the Kyrgyz Republic and its protection from criminal encroachments.

The Financial Intelligence Unit of the Kyrgyz Republic actively supports international cooperation with financial intelligence units of foreign states, represents the state at the events of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS member states, Egmont Group and other international organizations specialized in the AML/CFT sphere.

Representatives of the State Financial Intelligence Service of the Kyrgyz Republic held the posts of the EAG Deputy Chairman, co-chairs of EAG working groups, and since the foundation of the EAG actively participate in its activities, including mutual evaluation.

During a short period, the financial intelligence unit of the Kyrgyz Republic has achieved significant success at the national and international levels. This result is an undeniable merit of the staff of the financial intelligence unit of the Kyrgyz Republic - people who are sincerely devoted to their work.
